Sowore was one of those who came to witness the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained IPOB leader.

Before the start of Nnamdi Kanu’s trial at the Abuja Federal High Court, chaos broke out at the scene following the activities of some thugs on Thursday, October 21. This began when Sahara Reporters editor Omoyele Sowore tried to gain access to the courtroom where the trial will begin.

The Nation reports that while Sowore was talking to security officers at the entrance, he was attacked by at least 20 thugs who treated him rudely and escaped.

The development caused great tension and confusion as those who witnessed this expressed anger that the bullies had free access to Sowore. Before the attack, the activist was heard saying: “A courtroom is not complete, except that there are people to witness the process. I want to sit in front of the judge and be a witness to everything.

“We have been assured that Kanu will receive justice. He is my friend and he should be here. But the security agencies still won’t let me in.”
