Tech, crucial to Lagos Smart City project- Sanwo-Olu affirms -GCFRNG

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that technology is crucial to the state’s Smart City project and called on key private sector stakeholders to work together as partners to create a Lagos that works for all.

Sanwo-Olu, therefore, expressed the commitment of his administration to invest heavily in technology, which according to him is essential for the development of the state and the nation in general.

The governor, stated this Tuesday, at the 2021 Stakeholders Conference of the Lagos State Infrastructure, Maintenance and Regulation Agency, LASIMRA, with the theme: ‘Lagos State Metro and Smart City Initiative: The Future of the technological infrastructure.

Sanwo-Olu stated that the state will emulate Singapore and other countries that use modern technology for massive infrastructure development, while also collaborating with the private sector.

According to him: “If Lagos wants to maintain its status as a Center of Excellence in the country, the development of vital infrastructure is essential to achieve the development of human capital. The economic impact that improving infrastructure has on nation-building cannot be overemphasized. “

Governor Sanwo-Olu during the conference also confirmed LASIMRA’s Acting General Manager, Engr. (Mrs.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, as substantive general director of the agency.

The Commissioner of Science and Technology, Mr. Hakeem Fahm, noted that in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S. On the agenda, the state will leverage technology to provide infrastructure to boost the state’s economy, improve security, improve efficient service delivery in all sectors and traffic management in a bid to achieve a smart city and make Lagos a 21st century economy.

Special Advisor to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Eng. Aramide Adeyooye during the plenary session, said that the State Government was committed to the Smart City Project to reduce crime, increase investment, among other things.

Coker-Odusote said that it is not surprising that in Lagos state, the government led by Babajide Sanwo-Olu through LASIMRA, is interested in making Lagos the strength of the digital enterprise, an urban center for innovation and the trade and a fertile market for imperial investment.
