Renowned Nigerian singer and rapper, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has expressed his aspiration to collaborate with American music icons such as Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion.
Rema conveyed this desire after the success of his hit track with Selena Gomez, ‘Calm Down.’
During a brief interview with Hollywood Reporter at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards in New Jersey, USA, the 23-year-old singer, originally from Benin, shared his interest in working with more female celebrities.
Rema remarked, “I’m hoping to meet Meg (Thee Stallion) and Nicki Minaj for potential collaborations. Who else? Yeah, I want to connect with the ladies.”
According to Vanguard, Rema outshone notable artists like Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy to become the inaugural winner of the newly established “Best Afrobeats Song” category at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, USA, on Tuesday.
Following Rema’s victory in the Best Afrobeats category at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), Selena Gomez, his collaborator on the hit song ‘Calm Down,’ promptly expressed her congratulations and affection for Nigeria.
Rema made history by triumphing over his fellow nominees.
