Police Identifies Group Responsible for Killing Traditional Rulers in Imo -GCFRNG

The Imo state police have reacted to the killing of at least two traditional rulers in the Njaba local government area in the southeastern state. According to security officers, IPOB and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) are responsible for the deaths of monarchs CSP Mike Abattam, the state police spokesman blamed the council for not informing them about the meeting in order to provide security.

The outlawed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and its militant wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN) have been identified as responsible for the murder of traditional rulers in Imo state. Daily Trust reports that the claim was made by police in Imo state, saying it was not about the meeting.

In a statement signed by CSP Mike Abattam, the police public relations officer also blamed the council for failing to notify about the meeting to provide adequate security, P.M News added.

However, the police complaint was refuted by a witness who was present at the meeting and witnessed the attack. the security agency was adequately informed and even sent some men from Operation Search and Discharge to the meeting site to provide security. The source went on to explain that the deployed officers with their team leader left within an hour of the meeting. The officers refused to stay after a subpoena from their commander.

The police in their statement had said that they had received information from thugs suspected of being members of IPOB / ESN who were attacking the place where the traditional meeting of the president was being held.
