A former secretary of the Federation Government, Pius Anyim, has spent the second night in the custody of the Abuja Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, where he has been detained since Sunday afternoon in connection with the ongoing investigation of a former minister of Aviation. , Senator Stella Oduah.

Anyim, who responded to an invitation from the anti-bribery agency regarding a N780 million aviation ministry fund, has been detained since Sunday afternoon.

The former Senate president was questioned for several hours on Sunday regarding the fund dating back to a company of which he was a director.

Sources said Anyim, who was president of the Senate between 2000 and 2003, would be released after investigators are satisfied with his answers to a series of questions regarding the bribery fund.

One senior official said: “The former SGF is still with us answering some tough questions about how the N780m got into his company account. “He is cooperating, but we will only release him on bail after he has given satisfactory answers to our inquiries.

EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, did not respond to calls for a detailed update on the case.
