Oyo tree that fell, killed 4, ‘rises’ -GCFRNG
The 100-year-old tree that fell on Monday due to a strong windstorm in the Sabo de Oyo area of Oyo state, leaving four dead, has reportedly been lifted again.
Sources confirmed that the downed tree mysteriously rose up Tuesday, after all of its branches were cut off.
A driver, Saheed Balogun, who witnessed the incident, explained that he was loading his vehicle in the park not far from the tree, when there was a strong vibration from the tree and he returned to his standing position.
“It was in my presence. I was loading my car and then the tree started shaking, the next thing it happened it stopped again, ”he said.
Images and videos taken at the scene of the event had previously confirmed that the tree was uprooted and the branches trimmed.
However, more recent images have shown the tree trunk upright again.
It is said that Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, went to the scene to commiserate with the families of the people, who died when the tree fell on its victims.
Contacted, Bode Durojaye, the monarch’s media assistant, said the king went to the scene to commiserate with the grieving families and see the supposed wonder.
Durojaye said: “It was there. The fallen tree mysteriously rose again.
“Kabiyesi expressed his sorrow for the people there for the sad incident.”
