My Life Before 2015, What I Would Have Ended Up as if not for Politics, Osinbajo – GCFRNG

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has spoken with young Nigerians about the benefits of joining politics, one of which is being on a pedestal to effect needed and desired changes in various aspects of national life.

Osinbajo gave the advice on Wednesday, October 20, during a virtual conference convened for Nigerian Mandela Washington fellows. Osinbajo said that politics gave him the opportunity to make big changes in Nigeria

He noted that if it had not been for politics, he would not have been able to make the large-scale changes that now correspond to him as the vice president, The Cable reports. Nigeria’s number two citizen said that becoming a politician gave him the rare avenue to make meaningful differences in the country, which are feats he would not have accomplished as a mere lobbyist activist, Premium Times added.

“It took me public office to get the scale of change that is required to make a difference. “Without a public position, I would have remained an activist for a pressure group; I would have done some good things, but I would not have been able to make the changes my country required. “He listed some of his accomplishments before the 2015 presidential election: Lobbyist activist A staunch member of a major civil society Master Group Co-founder of an anti-corruption group Co-founder of the Convention on Business Integrity Chairman of the Lagos Attorney General Center for Legal Research and Development Osinabjo said that his legal reforms in Lagos as attorney general were adopted and implemented by many other state governments in Nigeria. Osinbajo had said that it is in God’s nature to create new beginnings and Nigeria was on the way for one, independently Osinbajo stated this while presenting at the 25th Annual Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God – The Americas, with the theme: New Beginning. Osinbajo, An RCCG pastor, quoted the Biblical story of Nathaniel who doubted if anything good could come out of Nazareth, and optimistically stated that even though people doubted if anything good would come out of Nigeria, the country would experience a new beginning.
