Ikpeazu vows to mobilize PDP governors, others for peaceful Anambra elections -GCFRNG

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia has promised to mobilize the governors of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other party loyalists to ensure a peaceful governor election in Anambra on 6 November.

Ikpeazu made the pledge at a strategy meeting of the PPD National Campaign Council for Anambra Governor Elections held at his Umuobiakwa Country House in Abia prior to the Anambra elections.

This is contained in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, and made available to journalists in Aba on Sunday evening.

Ikpeazu, who is the president of the council, also tasked the people of Anambra to accept the challenge of ensuring that the PDP wins the next gubernatorial election.

The governor said that a victory for the PPD in the elections would mark a turning point in the country and hope that a larger Nigeria will emerge again under the PPD.

He noted that the PDP had not won the Anambra Government House elections for a long time, adding that this had led to discouragement among the people.

According to him, this time, the story has to change.

The governor, noting that the people of Anambra have a duty to protect their votes, urged them to lead the charge to regain the state for themselves and for the PPD.

In his speech, the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Anambra, Valentine Ozigbo thanked Governor Ikpeazu for his immense support.

He said that the PDP had what it took to win the next election, as it was on the ground and intended to make Anambra proud.

The Anambra PDP State Chairman, Mr. Ndubuisi Nwobu, thanked Ikpeazu for hosting the meeting and for his immense support for the gubernatorial candidate.

He promised that he would leave no stone unturned to ensure the total victory of the PDP.

The names of the members of the Campaign Council subcommittees were released at the meeting.

Among those present were Abia Deputy Governor Sir Ude Okochukwu, Senate Minority Leader Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Anambra PDP Campaign Council Chairperson Senator Uche Ekwunife.

Others are the Secretary, the National Campaigns Council and the former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka, the former Minister of the Environment and member of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, Ms. Laurentia Mallam, and the Vice President of the PDP of Abia, Obinna Nwachukwu, among others.
