In Abuja on Tuesday, two factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) clashed, with reports of gunshots during the altercation. An anonymous witness couldn’t confirm whether the gunfire came from police or the feuding union members.
This clash represents an escalation in the ongoing conflict between supporters of NURTW National President Tajudeen Baruwa and those aligned with Badru Agbede. Baruwa has sought the intervention of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to address the situation and regain control of the national headquarters, which is currently under police control.
As of now, there has been no official statement from the police regarding the incident.
