Genevieve Nnaji Resurfaces after years of Absence

Nollywood’s shining gem, Genevieve Nnaji, has made a welcome return, ending her year-long absence from the big screen that left her 8.4 million Instagram followers in the dark.

The exciting news is that the esteemed actress made a noteworthy appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she premiered her latest movie, “I Do Not Come to You By Chance,” just this past weekend.

This film stands out in the esteemed Toronto International Film Festival’s 2023 Centrepiece program. Co-produced by Chinny Carter and Chioma Onyenwe, it boasts a compelling script crafted by the talented duo, Chika Anadu and Ishaya Bako.

The beloved star of “The Lion Heart” has also returned to social media, sharing a captivating new selfie with her followers. This development was met with excitement from her colleagues, who promptly filled her comment section with warm welcomes.

Leading the pack was Ini Edo, affectionately writing, “Hey honey,” while Mercy Eke referred to her as “The Queen.” Uche Jombo described Genny as “Asa bekeee (beautiful woman),” Rachael Okonkwo called her “My Ijele,” and Annie Dibia hailed her as “A queen and More.”

Songstress Waje expressed, ‘My queen,’ and added, “It’s so good to see you. Love you always.” Likewise, Mary Igwe wrote, “The most beautiful, welcome back my Queen.” Others who celebrated the timeless actress included Iyabo Ojo, Stella Damasus, Funke Akindele, Destiny Etiko, and more.

Genevieve’s return at the festival, following nearly a year of absence, has put to rest concerns about her mental health that were prevalent on social media last year. The actress raised eyebrows in May 2022, when, shortly after her birthday, she wiped her Instagram clean, unfollowing everyone. Since then, rumors circulated that Genny had relocated to the United States.
