Tastiness
For me, this is the summer’s hidden smash. To be honest, I did not expect to enjoy this packaged drink. Cocktails made from malt drinks or flavored beers are not a ready-to-drink category that I enjoy. I’ll almost always choose a canned drink with a genuine liquor stated on the label over it. However, this is an exception to the norm.
The Simply Spiked Lemonade tastes almost identical to their non-boozy lemonade. It’s thick and tangy, with notes of sweet blueberry and lemonade. And there’s hardly any boozy flavor (in a nice manner).
This drink is quite sweet, but not in the fake way I expected. They went for the good stuff, and this canned drink is sweetened with cane sugar, which is my personal favorite cocktail sweetener.
So, does the actual cane sugar sweetening compensate for the fact that this is a malt beverage? I’m still undecided. On the one hand, I can’t get over how much I enjoyed this cocktail. On the other hand, it is extremely sweet with very little alcohol. I’ll leave this one up to you to decide.
Sweetness
Simply Spiked Lemonade’s ready-to-drink beverage is SWEET. So lovely. But in a really wonderful way, thanks to the excellent cane sugar.
I enjoy a sweet cocktail, and this one was just a tad too sweet for me. If you’re looking for a sweet, gently boozy canned drink, this is a must-try.
Booziness
This one is officially 5% ABV, which is comparable to light beer and hard seltzers. The decreased booziness makes it a fantastic day-drinking alternative, but the sweetness would prevent me from drinking multiple of them in a row.
However, I have devised a workaround because I adore the flavor of these Simply Spiked Lemonades. Pour in the vodka. I believe that adding more vodka to this canned beverage would make it the ultimate boozy lemonade since you’d be keeping the delicious taste while increasing the booziness, removing the need to drink multiple of them.
Reason to Buy this Cocktail Again
Perhaps with a bottle of vodka to top them off (as mentioned above.) I really liked the blueberry Simply Spiked Lemonade and am now curious about the other flavors in the variety pack. If I go to a beach day or a camping vacation this summer, I may buy a pack of them for the group.
