Buni reshuffles cabinet, creates new ministry -GCFRNG
Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni approved a minor cabinet reshuffle and announced the creation of a new Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Secretary of the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Baba Wali, on Friday in Damaturu.
According to him, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, commissioner for the Interior, Information and Culture, will head the new ministry.
The statement said that the Commissioner for Land and Solid Minerals, Alhaji Mohammad Lamin, was transferred to the Ministry of the Interior, Information and Culture.
He said the governor had also approved the functions of the Land Ministry to be subsumed under the Yobe Geographic Information System (YOGIS), a recently established agency.
“Responsibility for the administration and management of land affairs, including matters related to the registration of land allocation titles, use, searches, cartography, cadastre, planning and other responsibilities that may be determined by the Governor, they have been transferred to YOGIS.
“With the signing of the Law that provides for the establishment of YOGIS, the Ministry of Land and Solid Minerals ceases to exist,” the statement said.
