Awards, encomiums on Onyema as Air Peace turns 7 -GCFRNG

As Air Peace airline marks seven years of entering the Nigerian aviation industry, stakeholders and industry observers have showered commendations and awards to Chief Executive Officer, Barrister Allen Onyema, and the airline.

Let us remember that Air Peace began commercial flight operations in October 2014.

Just last week, the airline was recognized with the Distinguished Safety Performance Award by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, in Kaduna.

The award given by the Kaduna Airport Manager and Chairperson of the Kaduna International Airport Airport Security Committee, Ms. Amina Ozi-Salami (DGM), “is a recognition of Air Peace’s ongoing commitment to security with records of zero accidents / serious incidents “.

It will be recalled that in August of this year, Air Peace also received the Gold Standard Safety Award from the National Association of Aircraft Engineers and Pilots, NAAPE, for its “safety record and safety system performance, as well as outstanding investment on new aircraft and equipment. “

Recently, the Anambra state government praised Air Peace airline and compared Onyema’s patriotism to that of the late Dr. Nnamidi Azikiwe.

The state government praised the airline for its “strategy of not leaving the city behind” which has seen it quickly open operations in different parts of the country in recent months. The latest operations were opened in Gombe and Ibadan, Oyo state, within three days.

In a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C. Don Adinuba, the Anambra state government praised “the airline for an aggressive route development program when airlines around the world are managing to keep up. afloat as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic that dealt a severe blow not only to the aviation sector but also to the entire tourism industry ”.

“It is a pleasure that Air Peace has been purchasing a large quantity of new, state-of-the-art equipment and deploying it on Nigerian domestic routes for the safety and comfort of our people. The use of the Embraer 195, known for an excellent safety record, is very welcome. “

“Furthermore, we are delighted to hear from people like Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde that the Air Peace operation in Ibadan has caused airfares to collapse in certain places, which is welcome news for Nigerian travelers.”

“Chief Onyema’s commitment to national unity and economic integration is reminiscent of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe’s promotion of Nigerian unity and nationalism through journalism, establishing newspapers in places like Kano, Zaria, Lagos, Onitsha, Port Harcourt and others, and forging strong friendships with people. and building lasting alliances with different groups throughout the country ”.

In keeping with his philanthropic spirit, Onyema arranged for Air Peace to sign a renewable sponsorship agreement with the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF.

The agreement makes Air Peace the official sponsoring airline of the country’s national teams.

The sponsorship contract, which lasts for four years, is renewable every year.

Stakeholders described the deal as timely as it came before Nigeria’s world cup qualifiers against Liberia, Cape Verde and the Central African Republic.

Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony in Lagos, Nigerian Football Federation President Amaju Pennick said the “initial agreement” is worth N300m with additional benefits for the country’s national teams.

Pinnick, who was accompanied to the signing ceremony by some Super Eagles stars such as Alex Iwobi, Tyron Ebuehi, Oghenekaro Etebo and Joe Aribo, said the partnership was timely as the Nigerian players were going to fly to the Cape Verde game to aboard the airline’s new Embraer E195.

The NFF president said: “We are happy because Air Peace personifies unity, Air Peace personifies warmth, Air Peace personifies humanity, Air Peace personifies nationality and Air Peace is 100% security.”

“Many international airlines have reached out to us, but we believe in this brand that is now established.

“What we have signed and what we have we will protect and manage and our dream has always been to be fully independent and with these and other signings we will get there.

In response, Air Peace President Barrister Allen Onyema said it has always been his aspiration to contribute and support national aspirations such as the Super Eagles and other national teams.

Onyeama said: “We are investing heavily in this sponsorship and association in these austere times because we want to restore hope to the country. We believe in Nigeria and the Nigerian project. People are losing hope in the country. But I believe in the greatness of the country ”.

On October 24, the Brazilian government and manufacturing company Embraer praised Air Peace when the airline turns 7 years old.

The Brazilian government, represented by the Head of Mission of the Brazilian Embassy in Nigeria, Ambassador Ricardo Guerra de Araujo, and the country’s aerospace conglomerate, Embraer, celebrated the constant growth of Air Peace, as the airline celebrated its seventh anniversary on October 24th. 2021.
