Anambra election: PDP cautions against declaring state of emergency -GCFRNG

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) warned against contemplations to impose a state of emergency in Anambra state before the Nov. 6 gubernatorial elections in the state.

The party made the warning in a statement issued by its National Advertising Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan in Abuja on Wednesday.

The party said that the Federal Government has the power to keep the peace in Anambra, before, during and after the state elections.

The PDP maintained that the reported move to impose an emergency government in Anambra state was a ploy to repress the people, manipulate the process, and manipulate the election of the governor for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate.

The party said its claim was based on apprehensions in public space that the wave of insecurity in Anambra was designed to increase tension in the state and derail the democratic process.

“The PPD insists that the Federal Government has the ability to guarantee peace in Anambra before, during and even after the elections, if it so wishes.

“We therefore invite the APC federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to guide itself accordingly,” the party said.

The PDP also urged the people of Anambra state to remain calm and take action within the purview of the law to resist plots to derail the state electoral process in an unbridled ambition to seize Anambra through the back door. (YAYA)
