Abuja Federal Secretariat fire: FCT fire service dismisses generator fire claim -GCFRNG
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service on Wednesday dismissed rumors on some social media sites that the fire in the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, was caused by a generator in one of the Secretariat’s parking lots. .
Ibrahim Muhammad, spokesman for the FCT Fire Service, in an interview with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), said that an 18-seater Coaster bus was destroyed by the fire and was the only affected property in the building.
“An 18-person mountain bus in the parking lot was the one that caught fire at the Federal Secretariat and it was probably a staff bus. The fire started after work closed, and around 5:11 p.m. when they called us, we showed up at the scene immediately.
“We were able to control the fire with the help of the Federal Fire Service, but the bus was canceled. We were also able to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the building, ”he said.
Muhammad stated that no lives were lost and asked FCT residents to contact the FCT fire service in the event of a fire on their service hotline: 092906118.
He noted that it was necessary for all residents to keep the service phone number in case of a fire emergency.
“We have sensitized people in the federal secretariat individually, but not everyone is serious and interested in saving our number.
“However, we received several calls from residents in our control room regarding this fire, which is a positive attitude,” he said.
