26-year-old allegedly kills father over chicken head in Ondo -GCFRNG
The Ondo State Police Command arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly killing his 64-year-old father in Akure, the state capital.
The suspect identified as Godwin Matthew is said to have committed the crime after accompanying his father, Audu Matthew to the farm.
According to the suspect, his father’s decision to give him the chicken head of the whole chicken that he was told to kill for his seven-year-old brother caused him to kill his father with a machete.
Confirming the arrest of the culprit, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Funmi Odunlami stated that “On September 9, 2021, a Ms. Christiana Audu Matthew reported a Murder case at the Ala Divisional Headquarters that His 26-year-old son Godwin Matthew, ‘m’, left home with his father to the family farm, but later discovered that the young man had killed his father with a machete.
“In the course of questioning, the suspect claimed that on September 9, 2021, his late father ordered him to kill a chicken for his brother, a 7-year-old Emmanuel Audu ‘m’, for his entertainment, meanwhile, he was only the chicken head that was given to him and this made him kill his father ”.
The PPRO added that the suspect would be charged in court for his prosecution.
