Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has announced that he will step down from active politics after his tenure as governor.
Masari said this while briefing reporters as part of the activities marking National Democracy Day in Katsina on Saturday.
He explained that he would be retiring to his farm after his tenure as governor of the state.
“I have held various posts as Commissioner in Katsina State at the National Assembly where I was Speaker of the House of Representatives.
“I am still in the service of my people as governor of Katsina State. Therefore, what else am I looking for, again.
“My people of Katsina, like the late Umaru Musa Yar’adua, ran for the presidency and won, Muhammadu Buhari the same, he even served as a military head of state.
“I think it’s better to leave the scene to other people from other places,” he said.
According to him, his main concern now is how to fulfill his restoration program, which involves rehabilitating all the dilapidated infrastructure and bringing back the past glories of the state.
“After I have succeeded in doing this satisfactorily, I will retire to my farm,” said the governor. (NAA)
