In the letter titled ‘Notice of Withdrawal of Service’ which was signed by the state Chairman and Secretary of the NAGGMDP, Dr Roland Arohunmolase, and Dr. Richard Obe, the doctors said the state government had also failed to resolve the issue of exodus of doctors and other health workers from the state-owned health facilities.

The doctors added that some of the grounds for the industrial action include “non-payment of salary arrears being owed health workers in Ondo State (January 2017, March, April and May 2021), Gross under-staffing of government hospitals following the mass exodus of doctors and other health workers from the state.

The industrial action embarked upon by the doctors was coming few days after the state chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association, in a statement, raised the alarm of the resignation of 105 doctors from the state’s public service.
