The Arewa Youth Forum (AYF) has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to see the protection of lives and property of Nigerians as a divine obligation from God for the peace and unity of the country.
It also called on Nigerians not to lose hope but remain resolute in contributing to the country’s development.
The forum, in a Sallah message by its National President, Gambo Ibrahim Gujungu, enjoined the Muslim Ummah not to forget lessons learnt in the holy month of Ramadan, saying it should remain their guiding principles.
It also urged Nigerians to use the celebration of Eid-el-Fitri to pray for the unity, peace and development of the country.
“Many Nigerians are despondent at a time like this, but it is necessary that we keep hope alive. In spite of what is happening across the country, our belief and hope is that Nigeria will pull through and even become stronger and more prosperous,” the statement read in part.
The AYF urged all to continue to pray for the country as they did during the month of Ramadan, stressing that as they celebrate the Eid-el-Fitri, it is important to use the occasion to be united, set aside things that divide Nigerians as a people and work together for the socio-economic development of the country.
It urged Nigerians to believe in the country, noting that it is passing through a phase that would soon be over and propel Nigeria into a future to be proud of.
